On 29 October people from across the Start Network and others involved in the Disasters and Emergency Preparedness Programme (DEPP) met to discuss the new monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) project for the DEPP portfolio.

The DEPP aims to develop systemic, organisational and individual solutions to persistent problems in preparedness and generate an evidence base for what works incapacity building. The monitoring, evaluation and learning project was developed to provide that evidence base.

This MEL project, led by Action Against Hunger and delivered jointly with Relief International, will create a network of learning advisers in DEPP focus countries, and will pilot innovative digital platforms for capturing and sharing data. The MEL project will accompany the other DEPP projects to implement a programme level MEL framework to ensure the DEPP is evidenced as one coherent programme rather than dozens of individual projects.
